Overview
The Ghoraburhani Sagasahi Iron Ore Mines is an iron ore mining project located at the western part of the horse-shoe synclinorium and was auctioned to Essar Steel India Limited in 2016 (acquired by ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India Limited in the year 2019). The lease covers an area of 139.165 Ha and it is valid up to the year 2071.
Highlights
It was the first auctioned mine in India. The total available resources are 98.19 Mtpa and the mines are operated in two pits (north and south). The mines possess an EC Capacity of 7.1 Mtpa and the life of the mine is expected to be around sixteen years. 50% of of the end-product has been consumed by their captive plants and the rest sold in domestic markets.
