Roads and Water

Barbil, Odisha, India

Challenge

To change the local landscape and provide amenities that were previously untenable.

Solution

We transformed remote village roads into black-topped roads, covering 12 panchayats in the Joda-Barbil-Koira area.

We constructed bridges and culverts over nallahs and rivers and widened the public roads beyond NHAI standards.

We also developed tourist hubs like Sanaghagara, the Handibhanga waterfall and several others, as well as places of spiritual importance.

We supply clean drinking water to 35 villages, with 48 borewells and 33 overhead tanks having been constructed.

Benefit

Many people in the community now have access to basic facilities in severely remote locations which otherwise would not have been available.
