Ensuring a smooth, safe and incident-free operation.

We were awarded a breakwater construction project under L&T ECC to execute the breakwater construction quarrying of aggregates from the Chikhli quarry to Hazira, where the principal client was Shell Oil Company, which had the highest safety standards for the construction of the LNG terminal.

Solution

Understanding the significance of dealing with a client with best-in-class standards of safety, we implemented a unique convoy system, using trucks which were GPS-enabled, in 2002. This provided us with the option to monitor, guide and re-direct a complex array of vehicles, each moving with purpose towards a definite goal. It was a unique arrangement for a mining practice at the time in India.
