Dust Suppression

Ore Crusher and Handling
The Odisha iron ore operation’s crusher and screen plants are well-equipped with dry fog systems, and conveyor belts are hooded with GI sheets to enable dust suppression. The CPU is equipped with a dust extraction system (bag filter mechanism) which functions with a pulse jet mechanism at each ore transfer chute point, and further collects dust in the bag filters.
Eco-vehicle Wheel Wash System
The mines have an eco-vehicle wheel wash system, for ore transport trucks, which washes 120 vehicles per hour. It has an infra-red sensor technique to reduce the standing time of trucks, thus reducing diesel emissions. After washing, the trucks pass through a series of rumble strips to collect maximum water for recycling. We retain nearly 90-95% of the water.
Water Sprinkling System
A hydraulic pressurized water sprinkling system enabled by 35 KL water tankers and auto-fixed type water sprinkling system along the haul roads for dust suppression have been used. The fixed sprinkling systems are designed to cover the entire length and width of the permanent haul roads. These are fully automated, requiring no human intervention.
